El Tesoro Mundial Basil Hayden Reposado Tequila 750ml
Description
El Tesoro Mundial Collection’s collaboration with Basil Hayden brings together two spirits traditions in an innovative reposado finished in high-rye bourbon barrels. This unique expression showcases how thoughtful cask finishing can enhance rather than mask El Tesoro’s traditional character, creating a bridge between Mexican and American whiskey cultures.
The appearance shows a deeper golden hue than standard reposado, hinting at the bourbon influence. On the nose, traditional El Tesoro earthiness meets distinctive bourbon notes—vanilla and caramel are enhanced by rye spice, creating an intriguing fusion. The tahona-crushed agave character remains prominent, now complemented by notes of cinnamon, black pepper, and subtle mint from the high-rye finish.
The palate delivers a fascinating marriage of traditions. Initial agave sweetness carries the expected mineral and earth notes, but the bourbon barrel finish adds layers of complexity—honey, baking spices, and distinctive rye character create new dimensions. The traditional production methods ensure the agave remains the star, with bourbon notes playing a sophisticated supporting role. The finish is long and warming, with alternating waves of agave sweetness and rye spice. This Mundial edition proves that innovation and tradition can create something entirely new while honoring both spirits’ heritage.
